On Wednesday, January 10th, LYC’s Lauderdale to Key West started one mile offshore from Port Everglades Inlet. There were 33 entries in the five-start fleet. The early leader was Spookie, who started on port with an aggressive shut-down tack on her competitors. The race is expected to take a while with a less than perfect forecast, with about eight knots from the southeast at the start making it a close reach to Miami before they make the right-hand turn to head to the southernmost town in the US!
