Nacra 15 Worlds February 19-26, 2023

Lauderdale Yacht Club is excited to host Nacra 15 Worlds February 19-26, 2023 in the Atlantic Ocean! LYC has a long tradition of ocean sailing. First founded in 1938, LYC’s original charter was to support the junior sailing of the Members of LYC and the community with a focus on sailboat racing and seamanship. Over the past year, LYC hosted the Melges 24 World Championships as well as the very popular Lauderdale Olympic Class Regatta. LYC has one of the best Race Management teams in the country, and the core team is onboard for Nacra Worlds.

LYC started the Nacra 15 Program a little over a year ago and LYC sailors have spent over 100 days sailing in the ocean over that span. Springtime is the most popular time to sail at LYC, with 10-20 knot winds, large ocean swells and moderate temperatures. Fort Lauderdale sees everything from strong frontal winds to sea breezes during the month of February. This is the main time of year that Florida sailors enjoy an advantage over our northern friends due to perfect temps and reliable daily winds. Nacra 15s were designed as an all around catamaran platform and they don’t disappoint in the waves of Fort Lauderdale, truly fun and challenging!

Racing and practices take place in the Atlantic Ocean, a 20 minute tow or sail from LYC through Port Everglades Inlet.

We look forward to welcoming you to Fort Lauderdale USA!

Nacra 15 Charter Information

The biggest questions we’ve been asked are about charters. Nacra is offering charters for the event. The charter cost is a little more than a European event due to the shipping cost, which has risen over the past couple years due to obvious reasons. Nacra and The Lauderdale Yacht Club have worked hard to keep costs low as follows:

Nacra 15 Charter for Worlds Delivered to LYC:

Nacra 15 Without Sails: 3,200 Euro

Nacra 15 Complete With Sails Including Country Code & Flag: 3,700 Euro
